Camping All Over America

If you travel the highways of America very much at all, there is something you will see a lot of – Motor Homes.  Have a Recreational Vehicle (RV) is becoming more popular every year.

One of the first questions people will ask when you talk about camping with an RV is, “What kind of cost is involved?”  Obviously the most expensive cost involved with camping with an RV is the purchase of the RV itself.  There are many, many makes and models to choose from in the world of RV’s.  Once you have purchased your RV, you can start planning that trip you’ve always dreamed of taking. You can save the money to buy the discount camping accesories, you can buy camping coolers, camping kitchen, camping personal care, , etc.

Before you head out on that trip across America, here are tips that will help make your RV camping a success.  Whether you are making one trip or planning a trip from coast to coast, you should have a standard checklist.  Keep that list in the glove compartment, and make sure you follow your checklist each time you get ready to head on down the road.  A checklist will help you make sure you take care of everything from the roof vents to unhooking hoses and electrical cords.

Invest in a good roadside assistance program.  It will be worth the cost – especially if you break down somewhere.  And before you get on the road, check your tires.  Keep a tire gage in the glove compartment with the checklist.  In fact, make checking the tire pressure one of the items on your checklist.

If you plan on staying in RV parks a lot, you may want to consider joining a discount camping club.  This could save you much money. They don´t forget the Bushnell Telescopes & Binoculars to see the landscape.

Be careful not to overload your RV.  Have your RV weighed in every corner so you can have your load balanced.  As well as weighing your RV, you need to know the height.  Wouldn’t it be awful if you got your brand new RV stuck under an overhang or tagged a light pole?

If you decide to tow your vehicle behind your RV, it is not recommended to tow it with all four wheels down.  If you tow your vehicle with all four wheels down, it makes backing up very difficult.  Remember that you will need more room to make turns in an RV than you would in a passenger car.  You need even more space when you are towing a vehicle.

Practice water conservation while you travel.  If you wash your dishes in a dish pan instead of the sink, that will help you save water.  Wiping the plates off before washing will also help conserve water.  You can also keep a plastic milk jug for water to wash your hands with.  Poke a small hole in it and put a golf tee in. This will keep the water in the jug.  Pull the "tee" when you want water and it dribbles out instead of running down the sink!

These are just a few ideas to help you as you begin traveling the highways of America in your new RV.  Have fun, drive safe, and enjoy camping gear all over our beautiful America!
